Queensland Palliative Medicine: Excellence in Compassionate Care

Queensland Palliative Medicine (QPM) stands as a pioneering force in the state’s healthcare landscape, being the first and, currently, the only private palliative care physician group in Queensland. Founded with a vision to redefine the end-of-life and chronic illness journey, QPM is dedicated to providing an unparalleled level of medical expertise combined with deep empathy for both patients and their families.

Leadership and Vision

The group was founded by Dr Gauri Gogna, a highly respected leader in the field. Dr Gogna currently serves as the President of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (AChPM) at the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), where she helps shape the standards of palliative care across Australia and New Zealand.

Her leadership extends to direct clinical management, serving as the Director of the Palliative Care Unit at The Wesley Hospital. Her dual role as a top-tier administrator and a practicing specialist ensures that QPM remains at the forefront of clinical excellence and patient-centred advocacy.

Integrated Private Services

Queensland Palliative Medicine operates across two of Brisbane’s premier private medical institutions, providing seamless care for patients requiring inpatient support or specialist consultation:

  • The Wesley Hospital: Where Dr Gogna leads the dedicated palliative care unit.

  • Greenslopes Private Hospital: Providing expert palliative consultations and integrated care plans.

Our Commitment to Patients and Carers

At the heart of QPM is a commitment to the "highest level of care." This involves:

  • Symptom Management: Advanced clinical strategies to address pain and complex physical symptoms.

  • Empathy and Dignity: A core philosophy that treats every patient as an individual with unique values and wishes.

  • Carer Support: Recognising that a patient’s journey is shared by their loved ones, QPM provides essential guidance and emotional support to carers throughout the process.
